ABOUT OUR FIGHT AGAINST CHILD LABOUR

WoteSawa has been fighting against child labour in order to ensure that children enjoy their basic rights.
achievement

ACHIEVEMENTS IN OUR FIGHT AGAINST CHILD LABOUR

    • 1,429 (979 female and 450 male) rescued and provided with psychosocial support, temporary shelter and reintegrated back to their families.
    • 345 parents trained on parenting and effects of child labour.
    • 77 children have been enrolled/re-enrolled in school since 2018.
    • 132 school clubs established in Mwanza and Ngara district.
    • 24 parenting groups established in Ngara district

ACTIVITIES INVOLVED IN FIGHT AGAINST CHILD LABOUR

    • Enhancing community members’, Local Government Authority Leaders’, Law enforcers’ and decision makers’ awareness on the importance of implementing the existing laws, reform of laws and policies, as well as the effects of child labour.
    • Training parents/ guardians and the community at lage in the rural areas on positive parenting and responsibilities in protecting their children from rural to urban unplanned migration.
    • Provision of legal assistance and shelter/safe house services to the victims of child labour.
    • Provision of vocational training and educational support through school enrollment/re-enrollment to the victims of child labour.
    • Establishing and strengthening school clubs.
    • Promoting gender equality.
    • Providing legal and psychosocial assistance to the victims of child labour.
    • Conducting community dialogues in the rural areas to prevent rural-urban unplanned migration and responding against chld labour in the urban areas.
    • Identifying, rescuing, interviewing and providing temporary shelters to the victims of child labour.
